Infinix launched its new smartphone: the Infinix S4 on 11th of April 2019. Nokia launched the Nokia X5 which is part of the Nokia X series in July 2018. After the launch of the Infinix S4, there have been debates/arguments on which of these two smartphones is better. If you’re one of those planning to get a new budget device, this post might be helpful to you figuring out the phone that best suits you. In this post, I’m going to highlight the different key aspects between the Infinix S4 and Nokia X5.
Key specs of the Infinix S4 and Nokia X5
Here, I’m going to show you the comparison between the Infinix S4 and Nokia X5 using the following specifications:

The Infinix S4 runs on Android 9.0 Pie based on Infinix XOS while the Nokia X5 runs on stock Android 8.1 (Oreo), upgradable to Android 9.0 (Pie); Android One. The Infinix S4 is powered by a MediaTek MT6762 Helio P22 Chipset with Octa-core 2.0 GHz processor and support for EDGE, GPRS, 3G, & 4G networks. The Nokia X5 is powered by a higher MediaTek MT6771 Helio P60 chipset with Octa-core (4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A53) processor. The Nokia X5 also supports EDGE, GPRS, 3G, & 4G networks.
Although the hardware for these two devices is similar, I’ll go for the Nokia X5 as the winner here.
The Infinix S4 has a display that is larger than that Nokia X5. The Infinix S4 has a 6.2-inch water-drop display while the Nokia X5 has a 5.86-inch HD+ display. Although the Infinix S4 has a larger display, the Nokia X5’s display is clearer and vibrant. So, if you’re the kind of person that likes phones with good and big displays, then the Infinix S4 is good for you. But if you’re the kind of person that likes a display with deeper colours and you’re ok with a screen size less than 6 inches, then you’ll prefer the Nokia X5 display. So, in terms of display, I’ll call this a tie.
In terms of camera quality, for a budget phone like the Nokia X5 and Infinix S4, I say they both have great cameras. The Infinix S4 has an incredible 32MP AI Selfie (front) camera with F2.0 aperture and triple rear cameras (13MP+8MP+2MP) with Quad-flash light. The Nokia X5 has a 13MP, f2/0+5MP, depth sensor, dual rear camera and an 8MP, f2/2, selfie camera. Taking pictures with both phones are great considering they’re budget device and for video quality, they both feature [email protected] I’ll go with the Infinix S4 as the winner in terms of camera quality.

Both Infinix and Nokia impressed their fans with the designs and body build of the two smartphones. I hope they are also durable but, we can’t complain much considering these are budget devices. The Infinix S4 has a dual 2.5D glass body that’s designed with a glossy glass-like metal for elegance. The Nokia X5 also has a dual Front/back glass + plastic frame. The Infinix S4 is slightly lighter than the Nokia X5 with a weight of 141g while the X5 is 160g.
They both come in three colours:
- The Infinix S4 comes with Space grey, nebula blue, and twilight purple colours.
- The Nokia X5 comes with Night black, Glacier white, and Baltic sea blue colours.
So, in terms of design and body build, I’ll give this a tie because it depends on user preference.
The Infinix S4 comes in two variants: the 3GB RAM & 32 ROM variant and the 6GB RAM & 64GB ROM variant. The Nokia X5 also comes in two variants: 64 GB, 4/6 GB RAM or 32 GB, 3 GB RAM. Furthermore, they both come with a dedicated microSD card slot in case a user needs additional storage. We can see how these two smartphones are similar in terms of memory/storage so, it’s a tie.
On a full charge, both devices should last for at least a day and a half because of their battery. The batteries for budget phones are good but, there are some that turn out to be horrible after using it for some time (I don’t want to mention names).
The Infinix S4 beats the Nokia X5 with a 4000mAh battery while the Nokia X5 has a 3060mAh non-removable battery. The clear winner here is the Infinix S4. None of these two smartphones come with quick charge (probably because they’re budget phones).

Prices of the Infinix S4 & Nokia X5
The Infinix S4 and Nokia X5 are very similar in terms of their prices hence the comparison. The Infinix S4 costs N49,500 for the 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM variant and N64,500 for the 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM variant.
The Nokia X5 costs N46,500 for the 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM variant and N65,000 for the 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM variant.
Note that the actual prices may differ depending on location and shop/site.
Which one is better?
Both devices are good but I can’t say which one is better because it all depends on individual user preferences. If what you want in a smartphone is a good camera, with a big display, and decent hardware specs, then, the Infinix S4 will suit you best. But if you’re more interested in better performance & graphics with a decent camera and you don’t mind a 5.86-inch phone then go with the Nokia X5.
Remember you can buy any of the variants depending on your pocket. In 2019, smartphones with high storage are always better.
The variants with lesser storage capacity are below N50,000. If that’s within your budget, then go for it.
